I had never known just what it meant To be a king without a crown I couldn’t find it in the airwaves Not buried in the ground Well I searched high and I searched low I even braved the undertow Still there’s nothing quite like passing time When you’re not around I would turn water into wine Unpaint the house with turpentine And I would conquer two state lines Just to be with you Thought it’s been said that I’m a simple man Won’t you try it if you can? I would applaud you with both hands If you’d save a dance for me And through an open window flew the name Of someone I once knew Is nothing as it seems? Am I dreaming? I walk the walk and talk the talk And let you wash away the chalk That I have painted on the long road Left behind for good A thousand oceans never drowned me On the dryer side of town But even three prongs couldn’t ground me When there’s a thunder cloud around So please don’t say that you will wait Cause I’ve been known to take the bait I will not waste another day Setting tea for two And through an open window flew the name Of someone I once knew Is nothing as it seems? Am I dreaming? I walk the walk and talk the talk And let you wash away the chalk That I have painted on the long road Left behind for good Now it’s closing You’re long gone Maybe next time You’ll open the door And through an open window flew the name Of someone I once knew Is nothing as it seems? Am I dreaming? I walk the walk and talk the talk And let you wash away the chalk That I have painted on the long road Left behind for good

I said we should escape to the mountains Isn’t that just a perfect plan? But you’re looking at me and you tell me That you don’t even know who I am When I asked you if you knew my last name You told me you couldn’t recall And I told you I wanted a telephone But what good is it all if you’ve no one to call? There’s a train leaving from Massachusetts And I’m hitching a ride up to Maine But we might as well stop in New Hampshire ‘Cause the other ones all feel the same Now sometimes we pass in the aisle And I nod and you wave you’re hand Exchanging exhausted smiles You can’t help but wonder if we could be happy again

I’ve been told Heaven made the keys to your doors And cast them in the finest gold Father time Oh how the years go by I’m sorry, you’re no friend of mine Daniel Webster made it happen on his own All while carrying stones for his kind And he argued it for ivy by himself Well I just might say “that’s my kind of hell” They said “New Hampshire’s not a gold mine” For what we’ve got But I think granite makes a better counter top And we’ve got grapes and jams and jets And it’s all just inside our capital committee Just off 93, just for you and me And we can follow that man strait out of the city Daniel Webster made it happen on his own All while carrying stones for his kind And he argued it for ivy by himself Well I just might say “that’s my kind of hell” After all he’d done, he had fallen south I guess my home state’s just second on the shelf I will pay these debts with miles, and I will drive them with a smile But it all depends on how you measure wealth Daniel Webster made it happen on his own All while carrying stones for his kind And he argued it for ivy by himself Well I just might say “that’s my kind of hell” Daniel Webster made it happen on his own All while carrying stones for his kind And he argued it for ivy by himself I just might say “that’s my kind of hell”

about

This EP is a collection of some of the very first songs I ever wrote between the ages of 15 and 18. These songs never found their place on past albums or had been otherwise ignored, and I felt compelled to give them a home, so I built them their own: aptly called "The Lost & Found EP."

Recorded, mixed and mastered in my small home studio over the course of three weeks in March of 2013 at the age of 23.
